Panama Economy Expected to enjoy Robust Growth

Panama's economy is expected to continue to enjoy robust growth in coming years thanks to foreign investment, especially in real estate projects, and the multi-billion dollar expansion of the Panama Canal. This was quoted in a press release today by Dow Jones Business News in News about Mexico's America Movil winning a wireless liscense in Panama.

MEXICO CITY -(Dow Jones)- Mexican mobile operator America Movil SAB (AMX) said Wednesday that it has won a wireless license in Panama.
In a filing with the Mexican Stock Exchange, America Movil said its Claro Panama SA unit submitted the winning bid for a 20-year license with 30MHz in the 1900MHz radio frequency band.
America Movil didn't disclose the terms of the bid.
The win fills a gap in America Movil's coverage in Central America, where the Mexican company operates under the Claro brand in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras. Costa Rica's telecommunications industry is a state-run monopoly.
Panama's economy is expected to continue to enjoy robust growth in coming years thanks to foreign investment, especially in real estate projects, and the multi-billion dollar expansion of the Panama Canal.
America Movil will compete in Panama with its arch rival, Spain's Telefonica SA (TEF), and the local unit of Cable & Wireless (CW.LN).
At the end of the first quarter, America Movil had 159.2 million wireless clients and just over 3.8 million fixed lines in Latin America.
